Did we mention that we are finally re-opening our boutique in a few weeks and launching our new online store?!? We're also bringing in some new brands...and some of those have the most incredible prices you can't resist!
We also have a few other surprises that we will wait until next week to announce. We're loving 2010 already!

Lingerie & Photography; Ari Michelson

images via here

While doing our last post on The Little Bra Company, we discovered the work of Los Angeles-based photographer Ari Michelson (he did the photography for the latest TLBC campaign).
As soon as we visited his website, the series of photos that you see posted here caught our eye, particularly with the sequin bras & panties and the patterned tights. The dramatic shadows, the leggy models, and an overall provocative theme.

The Little Bra Company - HELLO cleavage!

the little bra companyemily lauabove: the Sascha style we just bought

small breastsluxury lingeriefaire frou frouphotographer: Ari Michelson

We wanted to take this opportunity to brag about our latest bra purchase; the new 'Sascha' strapless from The Little Bra Company. You may know this brand from our boutique, and designer Emily Lau just launched her latest collection which includes new colors, new matching panties and the first strapless style. As many of you know, buying a strapless bra can be tricky...you want the shape and support, but wouldn't it be nice if it was pretty and provided lift? The 'Sascha' style covers all of those bases; it gives va-va-voom push-up and the bra itself is quite pretty with its lace/mesh overlay (that lies flat, so it's perfect as a 't-shirt bra').
If you didn't already know, The Little Bra Company (aka TLBC) is a lingerie label designed specifically for ladies who wear bra sizes 28-36 A and B. Secondly, it makes certain that if you're an A-cup, you at least look like a B-cup. Or at least that was our experience! Each bra is a padded push-up, but the genius is that the cups are cut closely together in the center so as to enhance your cleavage. The bras and matching panties are pretty without compromising functionality. For those of you who wear those silicone 'chicken cutlets' in your bra, no need for those with TLBC!
You can buy TLBC here and here! Enjoy your new-found cleavage!

Lingerie or Ready-to-Wear?

photo by Steven Meisel Models: Jessica Stam, Heather Marks, Lisa Cant, Carol Trentini

This photo certainly intrigued us, and raised the question "is it lingerie or outerwear?". We don't know the designer behind these pieces, nor do we know the magazine this came from, so it's all speculation at this point.
This reminds us of so many of our customers who shop at Faire Frou Frou and mention that some of our lingerie looks like ready-to-wear...and it is! With a bit of creativity and stylish flair, you can make almost any look work to your desired effect. That's the beauty of fashion these days. We make our own lingerie work as ready-to-wear as often as possible, and why not, it's too pretty to cover up!

This post is long overdue, but we are so pleased to introduce Jenna Leigh, a lingerie label straight out of NYC. Launched in 2009 by designer Jenna Leigh Blatstein, this high fashion label is truly turning heads! In fact, when we first met the designer back in August '09, we were instantly smitten with her designs. As beautiful as these pictures are, the pieces are even prettier in real life. For instance, the Notting Hill items (shown directly above with the lilac lace) are made from the softest ribbed organic milk cotton blend which might be easy to miss at first glance.
The philosophy behind the brand, and perhaps Blatstein's key to success is that she merges current trends with timeless styles. It's a win-win!

If You Could Only Wear One Outfit...

Just a touch of John Galliano (girdle) and Fifi Chachnil (stockings) was all that we needed to post the top image. The second image works because of the lace hat by Maison Michel. All of these images would be perfect in Faire Frou Frou, don't you agree?

Mimi Holliday bra

The theme for our 2nd Holiday Gift Guide post is 'silk and lace.' Of course most of what we carry represents that combination, but these pieces represent our newest and most amazing of the bunch. Many of these items are by French lingerie designer Vannina Vesperini. Vannina is a brand that is practically exclusive to Faire Frou Frou in the USA, and often a new name to customers that have never shopped our store. We also included a Mimi Holliday favorite and the Fleur of England kimono that we just adore! Each of these pieces represent a timeless elegance and sophistication when a designer combines the finest silk with the most delicate lace.
Happy shopping!

(P.S. Though our Studio City lingerie boutique is temporarily closed, you are still able to shop online at fairefroufrou.com. Also, let us know if you would like your items gift-wrapped or not.)

Layla L'obatti for Between the Sheets

between the sheetslayla l'obattiluxury lingerieluxury loungewearimages via LaylaLobatti.com

So many of us love the high glamour of the 1940s; particularly the lingerie designs of the era that produced some of the most striking silk chiffon robes and satin slips. Luckily for us, new life has been breathed into these looks with the arrival of Layla L'obatti from Between the Sheets. The NYC designer considers this label an outlet for her love of luxury and romantic details such as pearls, lace and silk. She certainly interpreted those passions into a perfectly romantic lingerie line! When we first saw these pieces in person, it was as though we were looking at vintage items from Rita Hayworth's closet! The pale peach silk satin and chiffon are timeless, and the lace insets add the perfect accent.
The glam pieces shown above are from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection and are broken into two groups; Deco Lace and Sheer Romance. The good news is that these pieces are now available for purchase!
For a more casual, everyday look, please make sure to check out Layla's loungewear line Between the Sheets (in stores January 2010).

We have to admit we love seeing a cute nautical theme, but this set of images caught us hook, line & sinker (couldn't resist the pun)! Hopeless, a lingerie label from Melbourne Australia, has unveiled their latest intimates collection with an adorable red, white and blue nautical look. Seriously, we're in love. From the fresh-faced model to the fun props, the new items are displayed in such an appealing setting. But the icing on the cake is the designs themselves...the 'Ellen' halter bra with the foldover on the cups, the 'Meadow' blue & white jersey knickers, the 'Cassidy' Liberty print bralette, the blue ruffle 'Chrissie' halter top and so on. Each piece is so special and really stands alone in terms of its style.
This is the 3rd range for Hopeless which is titled "The Voyage" (based on Steven Speilberg's "Jaws" film), "taking inspiration from the sharks teeth, the blood in the ocean and the waves of the sea" according to the label's designer Gabrielle.
All items are made to order, and can currently be ordered through the Hopeless Etsy site (and if all goes as planned, you will see the brand at the Faire Frou Frou boutique this Spring 2010).
We're sure after seeing this collection it will have you singing "Hopelessly Devoted to You"!
