Andres Sarda - Fall 2011

images via Andres Sarda

It seems that since we started this blog a few years ago we have been covering the spectacular runway shows by Spanish lingerie designer Andres Sarda.  We consistently see an elaborate production with lingerie that is styled with ready-to-wear and accessorized according to the show's theme.  This Fall 2011 collection was designed as a nod to 1950s Mexico and the style of Frida Kahlo with roses, ribbons and bright colors.  The darker, more seductive pieces are certainly more European inspired, but accessorized with traditional Mexican headdresses and bright lipstick.
As always, seeing these pictures make us wish we could attend one of the famous Andres Sarda runway shows during Madrid Fashion Week.  Luckily most of the lingerie you see will be available in boutiques, but we have to admit we are enjoying the runway accessories too...who wouldn't want to wear their hair filled with ribbons, pom poms and roses?

Bondage Chic

Numero #125 "Attache-Moi", photos by Tom Munro, model Aymeline Valade, image via here

We love when we see a piece of lingerie we carry at Faire Frou Frou in a major fashion magazine, as is the case with the Lascivious "Milla" bra (seen in the first image).  Of course there are some sexy Falke thigh highs & stockings happening here too, which are pretty fabulous.
Is it us, or are we seeing quite a bit of S&M styled shoots these days?  We're definitely seeing its influence in the world of lingerie design, and we're liking it!

Made by Niki - String Collection

images via Made by Niki

The Autumn/Winter 2011 collections are beginning to arrive at Faire Frou Frou, and what better start than with the String collection from Made by Niki.  The String collection consists of 2-tone fringe pieces handmade by Niki McMorrough & her team in England.  These slinky, swinging pieces are just incredible, and even create a tingling sensation when worn against the skin.  Not only is each design an aesthetic delight, the fit is superb: each item has velvet fully adjustable straps, whether at the waist or across the back, that make for flexible sizing.  This is especially critical to our online customers who are unsure whether a collection runs large or small, and in this case each item fits just as you wish (within reason, of course)!  Some of the items, such as the String Plunge Body (shown in black) even has a very light mesh liner in the bust area.  Though it may be difficult to tell from these photos, each design is made from 2-tone fringe: steel gray & black, and coral & stone.  It's a beautiful shadowing effect that adds just one more detail to these fine pieces.
Perhaps what we love best about the String group is that Made by Niki has created something quite unique and identifiable with her label.  We feel that she was very original in her concept and the designs are both seductive and sophisticated (our favorite combination).

Intimates Sessions with Feather Love Photography

photos by Feather Love Photography, lingerie by Unforeseen Circumstances, featuring Anne Sage co-founder of Rue Magazine
There is boudoir photography, and then there's the modern offshoot of it that Feather Love Photography has aptly named Intimates Sesssions.  It's for the gal who wants a sexy portrait, and preferably in lingerie, but doesn't necessarily want to pose with a long-stemmed red rose, thigh high stockings and a strand of pearls (not that there's anything wrong with that).  As you can see from these photos of Rue Magazine co-founder Anne Sage, her photos (as shot by Noa Azoulay-Sclater of Feather Love) are earthy, playful, relaxed and quite frankly a new take on the concept of the boudoir photo.  As described by Anne Sage, "it is an artistic and editorial evolution of the traditional boudoir shoot, it's an experience that is at once reflective and introspective, yet at the same time empowering, invigorating, and a hell of a lot of fun." Of course it doesn't hurt that Anne is modeling perhaps the perfect lingerie for such a shoot, which was designed by Teo Griscom of NYC undergarment label Unforeseen Circumstances

We are pleased to share that if you enjoy what you see here, you may have an opportunity to work with Noa of Feather Love Photography and Teo of Unforeseen Circumstances!

Teo and Noa will be traveling in Europe for the months of September and October--they'll be in London, Brussels, Greece and all over Italy and France--and they're offering their styling and photography services for Intimates Sessions while they're abroad. Of course they're also available here in the States at any time too (Feather Love Photography is based in San Diego, CA)!
For more information, and for their specific travel dates, contact info@featherlove.com

We seriously want to work with these talented ladies!  Who knows, maybe if we do work with them you will see our own Intimates Session featured here!

La Perla - The Roaring Collection

images via La Perla, photos by Mary Rozzi

La Perla unveiled part of its Winter 2011-2012 collection and frankly it's the cat's pajamas!  The Roaring Collection does a tasteful nod to the style of the 1920s with elegant pieces that in the hands of the wrong designer could have easily been campy or costume-like.  Inspired by the timeless beauty of Art Nouveau, we see beautiful patterned lace, bold lines and of course some fabulous fringe. We can't help but also note how beautifully photographed this campaign is.  We feel as if you can wear these intimates and slip back in time a la "Midnight in Paris" (we figure our Paris-loving readers have seen that movie!).
We selected our favorites to share with you, but the entire catalog preview can be seen on the La Perla website

We're excited, so we know you're excited...Ophelia Fancy finally arrives at Faire Frou Frou with one of their best collections yet: Out of Control.  These darling new arrivals are made from a combination of incredibly soft tulle with touches of satin here and there.  It's retro glam with a modern twist.  Admittedly this is a rather tame collection for UK designers Stevi & Em, a duo that has been creating rather quirky (in a good way) over-the-top theme lingerie collections since 2005.  But not only are these ladies talented in a creative sense, they also enlisted the top manufacturers in their field to create the highest quality products possible.
The new arrivals have inspired us immensely, so much so that we're taking quite a few pieces for ourselves for a pin-up photo shoot this weekend!  Now where can we find a cool black wig...
What are you waiting for, the new collection can be purchased here
